What is Hyalo4 Plus ?
Promotes wound healing and prevents infection
Hyalo4 Plus is a topical preparation constituted by hyaluronic acid as its principal component. The presence of silver sulfadiazine in the product composition plays a role in preventing the microbial contamination, thus improving the hyaluronic acid ability to support wound healing. These characteristics allow to change the dressing even only once a day; this causes the minimum discomfort the patient and the minimum exposure of the lesion to the air, thus reducing the possibility of wound contamination.
What is Hyalo4 Plus indicated for?
Hyalo4 Plus is indicated for the management of skin lesions, especially those at high risk of infections. In particular it is intended to cover acute and chronic wounds and to provide a moist microbe-free wound environment. Hyalo4 Plus can be used on non-infected wounds to help prevent infection and, following successful treatment of infected wounds, to help prevent the re-infection.

Hyalo4 Plus: advantages
  • Hyaluronic Acid provides a moist wound environment that facilitate healing and re-epithelialization.
  • Silver sulfadiazine has a wide spectrum antibacterial action and is effective against many species of fungi, such as P. aeruginosa and E. pyrogenes, the most frequently found microorganisms in wounds and infected burns.
  • Effective in management of pressure ulcers
  • Faster wound healing than with silver sulfadiazine alone1
How does Hyalo4 Plus work?
Meccanismo d'azione
Due to its hydrophilic properties, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) provides a moist wound environment necessary to the natural healing process.
Silver Sulfadiazine (SSD) plays a role in preventing the microbial contamination, thus improving the hyaluronic acid ability to support wound healing. HA-SSD caused a significantly more rapid re-epithelialization than SSD alone.

  • Trophic wound
    By kind concession of Mrs M. Lorenzoni
    Neuromotor Rehabilitation, S. Maugeri Foundation, Montescano (near Pavia), Italy

    Patient: Male 51 years old.
    Suffering from chronic cerebral vasculopathy. Femoral aorta bypass due to critical ischemia in the right leg.
    Diagnosis and treatment:

    • Trophic wound on right knee and tibia. Here we consider the wound on the right tibia

    T= 0

    The wound shows medium exudation, fibrin in the wound bed and inflamed, fragile skin around the wound. The patient complains of very intense pain (score of 9 on the VAS scale). The wound is cleansed with physiological solution followed by application of Hyalo4® Plus to stimulate the healing processes and prevent infection, a non adherent gauze as secondary medication and elastic bandage to secure them in place. Medication is changed twice a week.

    T= 1 (1 days)

    The wound shows advanced re-epithelialisation, with no signs of inflammation and correct healing structure. There is a reduction in the amount of pain the patient complains of (score of 4 on the VAS scale).

    T= 2 final (6 days)

    On discharge the wound had completely healed. The patient is prescribed a check-up in two weeks.

  • Multiple venous ulcers
    By kind concession of Dr Gabriele Giordano
    Vascular Ulcer Surgery - Villa dei Fiori Hospital, Acerra (near Naples), Italy

    • Slightly exuding
    • Slightly fibrous bed
    • Not very vital margins
    • Oedematous skin around the wound

    T= 0

    The wound is cleansed with physiological solution and then Amukine Med 0.05 is applied as antiseptic. Decision to apply Hyalo4® Plus gauzes impregnated with hyaluronic acid and silver sulfadiazine to stimulate the healing processes and prevent infection, covered with a medium stretch compression bandage to treat the oedema. Medication change every three days.

    T= 1 (28 days)

    The size of the wound was smaller, the bed cleaner, with signs of granulation. Slightly improved margins but which were still partly oedematous. The wound is cleansed with physiological solution and then Amukine Med 0.05 was applied as antiseptic and then Hyalo4® Plus (hyaluronic acid and silver sulfadiazine cream) to stimulate the healing processes and prevent infection, covered with a medium stretch compression bandage to treat the oedema.
